It’s insect season. It’s dry

That’s why fly fishing is so special.

Of course, I loved lure fishing and bait fishing when I was a kid. But when insect season arrives and trout are feeding on bugs drifting or floating on the surface, this is exactly when they should be caught on a dry fly. This is fly fishing’s moment to shine.

Catching those fish with lures or bait at this time of year feels like such a waste.

The terrestrial season is finally in full swing.

The linden trees are in full bloom, filling the air with their sweet fragrance. In the middle of it all, the back of a 75-year-old angler searching for rising trout says everything.

I love this time of year. Sunshine after the rain, a warm, humid evening, and insects dancing everywhere. The swarms are so incredible that they’re almost intimidating.
